Stipends and Benefits

Annual Stipends July 2007 - June 2008:

Post-graduate year 1 - $44,167.71
Post-graduate year 2 - $45,466.79
Post-graduate year 3 - $47,126.13
Post-graduate year 4 - $49,030.43
Post-graduate year 5 - $50,720.05
Post-graduate year 6 - $55,937.44


Uniforms (coats, scrub suits) – supplied free of charge.
Parking – free of charge.
Meals – Residents and fellows receive a monthly allowance on their ID badges for the cafeteria..

Malpractice Insurance – paid in full by hospital administration.

Dental Insurance – optional.
Medical Insurance – optional.
Vision Insurance – optional.


Vacation – 1st year residents: 3 weeks of paid vacation.
2nd year residents and above: 4 weeks of paid vacation.


Educational Expenses and Leave - Residents are allocated $900 per year, chief residents $2,100, and fellows $2,200 per year to use for professional fees and textbooks. Up to two weeks of paid educational leave are also provided per year. Reimbursements may be available for residents to attend and present any of their research findings that are accepted for presentation at regional or national meetings.

Moonlighting Opportunities – available at local hospitals to upper level pathology residents and fellows. Moonlighting is permitted only if it does not interfere with requirements and activities of the training program. Moonlighting is considered a privilege and only allowed when approved by the Chairman of the department.
