Cytopathology Fellowship: 1 year
 
The program is designed to provide advanced training in the interpretation of all types of cytologic specimens, encompassing both exfoliative cytology as well as all aspects of fine needle aspiration (FNA).
           
Minimal Requirements
 

Completed Post-Graduate Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency,


Completed Post-Graduate Anatomic Pathology Residency,


Board Eligible Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist, or


Board Eligible Anatomic Pathologist

Environment

Board Certified Cytopathologists.


Cytologic GYN specimens: 66,000 annually.


Cytologic Non-GYN: 4000 annually.


FNA’s: 1000 annually (70% of palpable lesions aspirated by pathologists, all others attended by pathologist for rapid interpretation).

   
 
Fellows are encouraged to maintain and acquire additional expertise in Surgical Pathology via electives and sign-out conferences.
     
Responsibilities
     

In charge of FNA service in which he/she performs FNA and gives rapid interpretation with assistance and supervision of faculty.


Performs as junior faculty member utilizing hands-on approach.

 


Participates in medical student, resident, and fellow teaching activities, and departmental and interdepartmental conferences.


Participation in Surgical Pathology is optional.


Research project required with submission for presentation at a major pathology meeting and submission for publication.
