It is important that personnel be properly trained and can show competency when performing POC tests to continuously achieve positive outcomes and quality patient care. The POC program at LSUHSC-Shreveport breaks down tests into categories to match both the testing personnel expertise, licensing, and regulatory requirements. |

The following
indicates tests with associated personnel categories. All personnel must
be trained and shown competent with documentation forwarded by the supervisor
or POC trainer to the POC section of the Clinical Laboratory and to the
individuals personnel record. The area must have received prior approval
via the POC Committee to perform the testing in the area. Not all personnel
listed or tests listed are authorized in all areas of the institution.
