LSUHSC-Shreveport's Point-of-Care Testing Services has more than 50 approved testing sites. Personnel at each of these sites have received appropriate training and have shown competency to performed authorized testing prior to performing tests on patients.
Every site is required to provide the following information before being considered for site approval utilizing a Request For Approval form:
- Area Requesting Approval
- Test Being Requested
- Category of Personnel To Perform Testing
- Clinical Justification As To How Patient Care Will Be Improved
- Cost Analysis Including Anticipated Volume
- Instrument or Kit Needed To Perform Testing (if known)
- Reduction or Elimination of A Test In The Clinical Laboratory
- Degree of Impact on Clinical Laboratory Testing (% reduction)
- Signatures Agreeing With Request - Medical Director of the Area, Nursing Director of the Area, and Hospital Administrator of the Area.
