Albert G. and Harriet G. Smith Endowed Professorship
  Dr. Albert and Harriet Smith

Goals:

To enhance the academic mission of the Department of Pathology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC), Shreveport.
           
Objectives:
 
  1. To provide financial support to academic endeavors such as publications of articles (i.e. defraying the cost of color figures), attendance of meetings to present research data, purchase reagents and supplies for research activities, and recruitment of talented fellows and faculty members.
  2. To enhance the academic image of the Department of Pathology at LSUHSC, Shreveport, by supporting activities associated with academic pursuits highlighting faculty research activities.
  3. To provide the Department of Pathology with a mechanism to enhance competition for additional grant funding by helping talented junior faculty members to develop their careers.
           
Accountability:
 

The Chairman of the Department of Pathology at LSUHSC should determine priorities for using the funds. Priorities should be based on academic impact of activities to be funded in so far as enhancing the departmental research effort and image among other institutions.

Periodic reports to the Board of Regents must detail how the money was used and the impact that the endowed professorship has had upon the development of the Department of Pathology at LSUHSC, Shreveport.
